Digital International Youth Work
The process of digital transformation is well underway – and international youth work, too, is turning more and more to digital formats. The area of Digital International Youth Work at IJAB addresses issues relating to digital development in international youth work and implements projects designed to inform, connect, train and advise youth work organisations and professionals – both nationally and internationally.
Research Project IJA.digital
Our efforts to advance international youth work and develop training formats are based on the outcomes of the research project IJA.digital (available in German). In 2021-2022, IJAB carried out a project in collaboration with the Institute for Media Research and Media Education (Institut für Medienpädagogik in Forschung und Praxis, JFF) and the specialist and funding agencies for international youth work with the aim of delivering an evidence-based foundation on which to build its strategy.
Activities for practitioners
Digital components have become an integral part of international youth work, and mixed formats (online, hybrid, on-site and blended) are now firmly established. The field of Digital International Youth Work at IJAB supports digital transformation in international youth work with a range of services and activities for practitioners:
- Training: professional youth workers receive training and are inspired to use digital international youth work approaches.
- Knowledge transfer: know-how about digital transformation in child and youth welfare services is documented for international youth work.
- Spaces for experimentation are provided.
- Quality: quality criteria for international youth work are being developed specifically in the context of digital transformation.
