DIY² lab "Digital Safer Spaces"

Safer spaces are spaces that - unlike in the everyday life - offer more protection, especially against discrimination and violence. In the next DIY² Lab on 27 June 2024, we will discuss - together with Marta Gawinek-Dagargulia – what constitutes safer spaces and how they can be created and managed, especially in the digital space.

Marta will give a brief introduction to the importance of safer space in the context of working with young people and talk about the influence professionals have on the creation of safe spaces. In breakouts, we will then look at the following specific cases:

About our expert:

Marta Gawinek-Dagargulia is a training designer, facilitator and author of books for teachers and facilitators. She has been working for 15 years mainly with young people and teachers/non-formal education facilitators with a focus on civic education and good communication. She has worked as a project manager to create spaces for community and individual empowerment in the South Caucasus, Central Europe and Germany. She is co-author of handbooks and digital materials on holistic non-formal education and intercultural communication (www.competendo.net, publications - horizontal school)

The area of Digital International Youth Work at IJAB addresses issues relating to digital development in international youth work and implements projects designed to inform, connect, train and advise youth work organisations and professionals.
