International DIY² Lab: Group dynamics online

Documentation now available

DIY² stands for Do It Yourself in Digital International Youth Work. Everyone is invited to experiment, try things out and share their own experiences. In the international DIY² Lab on 7 July 2022, we exchanged ideas on group dynamics in digital youth exchange. The English-language documentation is now published and can be downloaded for free.

What makes digital group dynamics specific? What works more easily online? How can you recognise and support what is happening on the screen? What is a good framework for online encounters?

The documentation goes into important basics, describes the activities tried out in the lab and reproduces central discussion results.

The speaker in the lab was Christoph Schneider-Laris, responsible for the volunteer programme at Paritätische Freiwilligendienste Sachsen gGmbH. He works as a social education worker in international youth work, organises and accompanies German-Polish youth encounters and specialist programmes. His work focuses on group dynamics, language animation, professional exchange and experiential education.

About digital youth education

The internet has become a cultural and communication space in its own right. Digital youth education helps young people to navigate this space responsibly and to use it for social and political participation.
