UK-Germany Youth Summit
How can young people contribute to shaping democratic societies that are resilient and inclusive? This is the central question of the UK–Germany Youth Summit, taking place in Berlin from 19 to 22 March 2026.
Seventy young people from Germany and the United Kingdom are coming together to exchange perspectives, learn from one another and build trust – strengthening their ability to shape resilient democracies. Through workshops, dialogue formats and collaborative working sessions, participants engage with current challenges facing democratic societies: from polarization and societal crises to democratic learning, as well as diversity, participation and media literacy in the digital age.
The Summit provides space for cross-border exchange, critical reflection and creative collaboration. Its aim is to develop ideas together on how young people can strengthen and actively shape democratic processes. The outcomes will be presented at the end of the Summit and are intended to have an impact beyond the event itself – for example in educational settings, youth organisations and civil society engagement.
As a lighthouse project under the UK–Germany Kensington Treaty, the Summit deepens cooperation on youth exchange, education and democratic participation.
The Youth Summit is funded by the Federal Ministry for Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMBFSFJ), the UK Department for Education (DFE) and the UK Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).
The Summit is coordinated by IJAB and the British Council.
