International Youth Work Data Report
The "Data Report on International Youth Work," published by IJAB, strengthens the empirical foundation of the field. By collecting and visualizing available data, it serves as a vital tool for the further development of international youth work.
International and European youth work provide unique learning environments for encounters and exchange between young people from different countries. These programs foster mutual understanding, tolerance, and openness, while supporting intercultural learning, personal responsibility, and civic engagement. Given the current global situation, it remains of particular importance to lower inhibitions, promote shared engagement across Europe and the world, and create a counterpoint to resentment and prejudice. This is what international youth work stands for.
However, key questions often remain:
- How much youth exchange takes place in Germany and its partner countries annually?
- How many youth encounters are being implemented?
- How many professional exchange programs are conducted?
- Which topics are prioritized, and which partner countries do organizations collaborate with?
Milestones Toward Regular Reporting
The Data Report on International Youth Work 2019, published by IJAB in 2022, marked a significant milestone toward regular reporting. The new Data Report 2021 continues this path, reinforcing a core objective of the publication: expanding the empirical basis to advance the field through the systematic collection and visualization of data. Consequently, the report offers tangible added value for organizations and stakeholders, increases visibility, and strengthens quality development on multiple levels.
Data Report on International Youth Work 2021
The new report was officially released on June 4, 2024, during the BMBFSFJ’s Central Stakeholders' Conference on the further development of European and international youth policy and youth work in Cologne.
This project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMBFSFJ).
