The 'Information System Child and Youth Services in Germany' provides a comprehensive overview of Germany’s system of child and youth services including an extensive commentary. A group of selected scholars and experts was commissioned to select and revise the contents. The Information System, funded by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, is a valuable tool for experts working in Germany as well as for the international expert dialogue in the fields of youth services, youth work and youth policy.
Structure of the Information System
A brief introductory section explains the fields covered by child and youth services. The tool then goes on to outline three specific thematic areas that define Germany’s child and youth services system:
- General structural framework: Society, state and federal legislation
- Tasks and fields of work: Mission and claim of child and youth services; assistance and support; socio-educational support services; integration support; support for young adults; other tasks
- Structures: Institutions; guiding principles/procedural principles; financing; employees.
The Information System also reflects the outcomes of the reform of Book 8 of Germany’s Social Code.
