A digitalisation strategy for international youth work

Internationale Jugendarbeit.digital

The international youth work field, too, is increasingly turning to digital formats in order to offer exchanges, training courses and events in the virtual space. But how can digital and hybrid formats be integrated into the range of methods used in international youth work in such a way that any insights gained can be scaled up? And what quality standards are required for this to happen?

The Internationale Jugendarbeit.digital project is a systematic attempt to find answers to these questions. Representatives of specialist and funding agencies for international youth work and a research partner have teamed up to examine the learning effects of digital and hybrid formats from a scientific angle, identify success factors, and on this basis develop quality standards. Central to the project, which runs through to the end of 2022, is the continuous involvement of international partners.

The digital work done by the organisations and experts will be supported by ongoing efforts to develop, compile and make available tools, methods and training formats. These, too, will take place in close cooperation with the specialist and funding agencies for international youth work and international partners.

DIY²-Labor

One element of further development and qualification is the new experimental offer "DIY²-Labor: Do-It-Yourself in Digital International Youth Work". In a two-week rhythm, professionals, project leaders and team leaders can try out digital international youth work. In an open and participatory framework, all interested parties are invited to get to know different ideas, tools and methods of digital international youth work, to exchange experiences and basic questions and to experiment together.

The DIY² labs thrive on joint experimentation. Anyone who has suggestions for topics for further labs or would like to contribute their own ideas and experiences can use an online form.
