Speaker: Andrea Rembold, Youth Agency Stuttgart, Eurodesk Stuttgart
This lecture provides a comprehensive overview of the most important publicly funded international volunteering programmes abroad. The presentation will cover the European Solidarity Corps, the International Youth Voluntary Service (IJFD), the Franco-German Voluntary Service, the development volunteer programme weltwärts, and kulturweit. You will learn about the fields in which you can do a voluntary service, the types of placements available, the requirements you should meet, how the application process works, and how the programmes are funded.
In addition, the lecture will explain what is meant by non-funded volunteering programmes and voluntourism, and what you should pay particular attention to in this context. As alternatives to voluntourism, options such as workcamps will also be presented. Former volunteer Luzie will share her experiences from her weltwärts service in Ecuador and a workcamp in Finland. The session will conclude with plenty of time for your questions.
