From inclusion and sustainability to the impact of exchange projects – the handbook addresses current topics that are highly relevant to international youth work in practice. A particular focus lies on the recommendations from the IJAB project IJA.digital (2021–2022). Digital elements not only offer activating methodological tools but also open up new ways of cross-border collaboration.

The Quality Handbook is a comprehensive update of the Quality Criteria and Indicators for International Youth Work from 2004. The criteria developed at that time initiated many quality processes at both national and international levels – this new handbook builds on those foundations and develops them further. The handbook was developed in collaboration with representatives of German youth organizations, coordinated by IJAB.

Who is this publication for?

The Quality Handbook is aimed at organizations and professionals who already have (some) experience in international youth work. It is a tool for quality development, supporting users in reflecting on, showcasing, and further developing their existing projects. It also addresses other fields, such as vocational exchange programmes for young people.

The publication is divided into two parts:

The handbook is available in both German and English via the IJAB ordering service. The German version is also available as a printed copy.

About the internationalisation of youth services
